They're betting on the person not wanting to seem rude by withdrawing the offer to pay. This here is the line, once they've got someone hooked they start grabbing for more. My friend later told me that she had taken the children from their father who had full custody of their children because of similar problems. This was after they found several items that she tried to steal after she realized that I wasn't going to pay for their stuff. On my way out she was cursing at the police officers about harassment and that they didn't have any right to arrest her. I also told her that since she claimed to be homeless that social services would be able to place the children in a home and provide them with food since they clearly were in need. When their mother asked me why I called them? I simply responded with "You asked me for help, but you never asked me in what form of help."
